A Treasury Settles in Minutes, Your Broker Starts Staking Ether, and Binance Pool Closes
A two-year Treasury got tokenized, settled in minutes, then borrowed overnight cash against itself. The conventional version of that settlement waits until tomorrow.
Repo is the least glamorous corner of finance, and it quietly funds everything else, which makes it a strange place to look for a blockchain. Somewhere far less exotic, a brokerage your uncle probably already uses started paying out staking rewards.

Weiss Ratings says the second half of 2026 could bring a major rotation — hurting some popular stocks while creating opportunities in lesser-known names.
Their latest briefing reveals both the stocks they believe investors should avoid and the ones they’re watching most closely.

Market-Moving News
Three things landed since your last edition, and all three are institutions picking sides.
One is Wall Street’s funding plumbing accepting a token as collateral. One is a mainstream brokerage deciding staking is worth the operational headache. And one is one of crypto’s largest exchanges walking away from a business several exchanges once expanded into.

37 European Banks Clear Major Hurdle for MiCA-Regulated Euro Stablecoin

Qivalis, the stablecoin venture backed by 37 European banks, has secured authorization as an Electronic Money Institution from the Dutch central bank, removing a major regulatory hurdle before its planned euro stablecoin launch.
The consortium spans 15 countries and includes major lenders such as BNP Paribas, ING, BBVA, and DZ Bank. The authorization makes Qivalis eligible to issue euro-denominated electronic money tokens under European rules.
Europe’s Banks Build Their Own Digital Euro Rail
The important distinction is who sits behind the project. Rather than relying on an outside crypto issuer, dozens of European banks have joined forces to create their own regulated onchain euro asset.
Qivalis plans to distribute the token through banks, exchanges, and payment providers, potentially giving it immediate access to established financial networks.
The stablecoin could eventually support settlement, payments, and other blockchain-based financial activity.
The Regulatory Barrier Gets Smaller
The token is not live yet. Qivalis must still meet remaining MiCA requirements, including publishing its white paper, before issuance begins. The company expects to start issuing the stablecoin within the coming months, with the new Dutch authorization placing it under ongoing regulatory supervision.
Take: A 37-bank stablecoin gives Europe a very different answer to the dollar tokens dominating crypto today. Its real strength will come from distribution, not simply regulatory approval.
If the consortium succeeds, you could encounter a blockchain-based euro through ordinary banking and payments long before it feels like a crypto product.

Regulation
Philippines’ Largest Crypto Exchange Faces Regulatory Threat as Peso Access Tightens

Coins.ph, the Philippines’ largest crypto exchange, faces regulatory scrutiny that could put its operating license at risk after allegations of transactions linked to restricted offshore gaming businesses.
The platform serves more than 18 million customers. It is estimated to handle 75% to 80% of the country’s peso-to-stablecoin liquidity, so any serious regulatory action would be far more than a routine compliance dispute.
Peso Access Is Already Under Pressure
The Philippine central bank previously ordered Coins.ph affiliate DCPay Philippines to stop receiving inbound transfers through InstaPay and PESONet, two major rails connecting wallets with domestic banks.
The restriction does not amount to a full shutdown. Crypto trading and custody continue through a separate licensed entity, while Coins.ph says customer funds remain safe and the company is still operating under its existing regulatory permissions.
License Risk Raises the Stakes
The latest reporting suggests authorities could consider broader action, although the central bank has not publicly confirmed that Coins.ph will lose its license. Coins.ph denies knowingly providing services to prohibited offshore gaming operators and says it is cooperating with regulators.
The potential impact is substantial. The exchange sits at the center of local crypto liquidity in a country receiving roughly $43 billion in annual remittances, connecting peso users with stablecoins, trading, payments, and other digital-asset services.
Take: Coins.ph has become important enough that regulatory pressure now reaches well beyond the exchange itself. Losing reliable peso access changes the experience before you ever reach the trading screen.
A prolonged restriction could reshape how stablecoins and crypto liquidity move through one of Southeast Asia’s largest digital-asset markets.

Evernorth Puts $648M XRP Treasury to Work With Ripple, Coinbase and Kraken

Evernorth is preparing to deploy part of its 473 million XRP treasury through institutional strategies involving Ripple, Coinbase, Kraken, and BitGo. The Nasdaq-listed company currently holds roughly $648 million in XRP and plans to begin deploying the assets in the fourth quarter rather than leaving the entire treasury idle.
The Treasury Moves Beyond Buy-and-Hold
The first phase will use established institutional counterparties to generate returns while maintaining XRP exposure. Evernorth has not disclosed how much of the treasury it will initially deploy, so we shouldn’t treat the full $648 million as committed capital.
The company says its longer-term goal is to increase the amount of XRP backing each share through treasury-generated earnings.
XRP Lending Could Come Next
Evernorth also plans to enter XRP Ledger lending, credit markets, and DeFi once those products operate at sufficient scale and prove themselves in production. That could eventually turn one of the largest public-company XRP positions into a major source of liquidity for emerging onchain credit markets.
Take: Corporate crypto treasuries usually attract attention when they buy more tokens, but Evernorth is testing what happens after the accumulation phase.
Holding XRP becomes a different proposition once you add lending, credit, and institutional yield strategies to the equation. If those markets develop, a $648 million treasury could become active infrastructure for the XRP ecosystem rather than a passive balance-sheet position.

Majors barely moving while the board underneath them does something considerably more interesting. Today’s three ran on a storage contract, a chain changing landlords and a deliberate supply squeeze.
Walrus (WAL): ($0.05) +39.3%
Walrus is the storage layer built on Sui, and it just picked up a serious tenant. DATA Network is retiring its own blockchain and moving its AI training data registry onto Sui, with Walrus becoming the default storage for its applications.
Volume ran near $164 million against a cap around $139 million. Roughly 2.6 billion of five billion tokens circulate, and in the perpetual market funding was sharply negative at the snapshot against $114 million of open interest, so anyone short has been paying longs for the privilege rather than the other way around.
Swarm Network (TRUTH): ($0.02) 25.4%
TRUTH is a blockchain project that uses artificial intelligence and human verification to determine whether real-world information is accurate. Its TRUTH token powers the network, rewarding participants who verify information and helping developers build applications that rely on trustworthy data.
It’s rallying as a surge in speculative trading sends activity sharply higher, including a 36% price spike in just one hour on Bybit. Leveraged futures trading appears to be amplifying the move, although no major announcement or specific catalyst has been confirmed.
Travala (AVA): ($0.28) +22.9%
Smallest cap here and the tidiest supply story. Travala is a travel booking platform where the token buys you discounts and cashback, and the foundation is about to double the lock requirement for new loyalty memberships, aiming to tie up 30% of circulating supply against roughly 16% today.
A separate reserve matches the foundation’s monthly open-market buying and has pledged never to sell any of it. Reported volume came in near $37 million against a cap around $19 million, so activity ran more than twice the size of the token itself.

Avoid The 35% Bracket (Sponsored)
A $500,000 Roth conversion can create a big tax bill if too much lands in a higher bracket at once.
For 2026, the 35% bracket begins above $512,450 for married couples filing jointly and $256,225 for single filers.
That’s why some investors spread conversions across multiple years instead of doing everything at once.

Crypto Know-How: What Repo Is, and Why Tokenizing the Collateral Changes It
Repo sounds technical and is embarrassingly simple. You own a bond. You need cash tonight. So you sell the bond to somebody with cash and agree to buy it back tomorrow at a slightly higher price.
That price difference is the interest. The bond is the collateral. That is the entire product, and an enormous amount of it rolls over every single day.
Triparty repo adds a referee. Instead of the two sides shuffling securities and cash between themselves, an agent takes custody of the collateral, values it, applies margin, and settles on its own books.
BNY is one of a handful of institutions big enough to do that job, which is why its ledger showing up in this story matters more than the word blockchain does.
The bottleneck has always been timing. A conventional Treasury settles the next business day, which can delay how quickly a note you just bought becomes something you can pledge.
So everyone involved keeps buffers of spare cash and spare securities to bridge that gap, and buffers tie up capital that could be doing something more useful.
Turn that bond into a ledger entry and the gap shrinks to minutes. In principle, that lets the same security get put to work sooner, makes intraday financing practical, and shaves some of the timing friction between two sets of books.
Whether any of that shows up in funding costs depends entirely on how many institutions and platforms end up on board.
Now the catch. This runs on a bank’s private ledger, not a public chain, so you are trusting BNY exactly as much as before. And collateral only moves instantly between parties who share the ledger. One bank proving it works is interesting.
The whole market agreeing to meet on the same rails is the hard part, and nobody has done that yet.

Everything Else
Seven stocks are quietly doing what the Magnificent Seven once did early on and analysts believe they are already positioned to define the market's next phase before the crowd catches on.
XRP is getting embedded wallets through Ripple’s tie-up with Privy, the wallet outfit Stripe owns, letting apps and AI agents transact on the XRP Ledger without users ever touching a seed phrase. Agent payments on the network have passed 14 million, which is a count of transactions and says nothing about the size of them. CoinDesk
BTC found a buyer in Strive, which picked up 3,311 bitcoin for roughly $280 million, its largest single purchase since January. The Block
SOL has a date for Alpenglow, due next Wednesday, with the headline ambition being finality measured in milliseconds rather than seconds. Lab numbers and behavior under real load are different animals.
USDT issuer Tether is lending its Hadron platform to a pair of new fund offerings, with Bitfinex Securities opening subscriptions for CMCC Global’s Crest Fund and Liberty Bitcoin Accumulation Fund. One is denominated in dollars, the other in bitcoin, and subscriptions run to the end of the month.
FHI is planning a move onchain, with Federated Hermes and Prometheum developing tokenized fund shares meant to reach ordinary brokerage accounts rather than crypto-native platforms. Nothing is live yet, and the manager reported roughly $912 billion under management at the end of June.

A Treasury note that funded itself in minutes, a brokerage slotting validator rewards in beside its margin accounts, and the last exchange-run mining pool switching off the lights. Institutions are picking up the parts of crypto that work and quietly dropping the parts that don’t.
Watch whether that repo trade turns into a daily number, and if you mine on Binance, move your rigs well before the deadline rather than the morning of.
Best Regards,
