📈 Market-Moving News

From mega-raises to new frameworks and bullish bets on the future of AI, the crypto world is once again at a crossroads. 💰 Strategy Raises $711M to Buy More Bitcoin in Upsized STRF Offering

Strategy (MSTR) will likely soon be in the market for additional sizable bitcoin purchases after pricing an upsized sale of its latest preferred stock issue. The company raised $711.2 million through the sale of 8.5 million shares of its 10% Series A Perpetual Strife Preferred Stock, priced at $85 each—well above its original $500 million target.
The new STRF series differs from the earlier STRK issuance with a higher coupon rate (10% vs. 8%) and no option to convert into common stock. Strategy's growing confidence in Bitcoin as a reserve asset is underscored by this move as it looks to continue expanding its already massive holdings.
At last count, Strategy owned more than 499,200 BTC, meaning the next round of purchases will likely take it over the 500,000 mark. MSTR shares dipped slightly in premarket trading to under $300, while Bitcoin remained stable around $84,000.

Regulation
Australia Unveils Crypto Framework and Vows Action on Debanking

Australia's Treasury has introduced a new regulatory framework that will bring crypto exchanges, custody providers, and select brokerages under existing financial services laws. The plan requires platforms to meet licensing, capital, and asset safeguarding standards under an Australian Financial Services Licence.
The framework will exempt smaller and startup platforms below certain thresholds, as well as developers working on non-financial blockchain applications. Payment stablecoins will be treated as stored-value facilities, but some stablecoins and wrapped tokens will be excluded from market regulations.
The Albanese-led government also pledged to work with the country's four biggest banks to address widespread debanking issues. A review of central bank digital currency (CBDC) policies and a regulatory sandbox for fintechs is also planned for 2025, ahead of a federal election that could reshape the crypto policy landscape.

Sentiment
🤖 44% of Crypto Traders Bullish on AI Tokens: CoinGecko Survey

A CoinGecko survey of 2,632 participants found that 44% are bullish on crypto AI token prices heading into 2025. Of those surveyed, 25% said they were "fully bullish," while 19.3% were "somewhat bullish"—highlighting optimism around the fast-growing $23.6 billion AI token market.
The same sentiment applies to crypto AI products, with participants citing maturing use cases and wider adoption. CoinGecko's Yuqian Lim noted that users aren't sharply distinguishing between investment value and product utility—both appear to be on the rise.
Interestingly, some of the earliest adopters, labeled "innovators," showed higher levels of bearishness than later-stage adopters. Theory Ventures' Spencer Farrar said while some AI applications appear "frothy," retail access to experimental ideas and emerging infrastructure could drive long-term value across decentralized GPU, data, and authentication protocols.

🧠 Crypto Know-How: Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)
The Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) is like the brain of the Ethereum blockchain—it runs all the code behind smart contracts and decentralized apps (dApps). Think of it as a global computer that developers use to build and launch blockchain-based programs.
What makes the EVM powerful is that it works the same way on every Ethereum-compatible blockchain. That means if an app works on Ethereum, it can also run on other chains like BNB Chain, Avalanche, or Polygon with little to no changes.
EVM compatibility has made Ethereum the most popular platform for Web3 apps, driving massive innovation across DeFi, NFTs, and gaming. As more blockchains adopt the EVM, it becomes easier for developers to launch apps across multiple networks, speeding up adoption everywhere.
